Old Twitter Interface Is Gone

Author // Administrator

If you've been holding out on upgrading to the new Twitter interface, you no longer have any choice in the matter. The classic Twitter interface has been officially replaced by what the service calls New Twitter.

The new interface has more functionality than the previous version, but it has gotten some criticism for overcomplicating the service. Fifty-three percent of respondents who participated in a very unofficial About.com poll said they preferred the old interface, while 20% liked the revamped version and 6% don't care either way. Twenty-percent said they don't tweet. By following the #OldTwitter trending topic, it's clear that plenty of people want the previous interface restored.

New Twitter makes following conversations and learning about mentioned users easier, essentially giving tweets better context. Users can also watch videos and view pictures directly from Twitter if they're from YouTube, Flickr, TwitVid, TwitPic, Twitgoo, Etsy, DeviantART, DailyBooth, Kickstarter, Vimeo, Plixi, yfrog or other third-party applications that have partnered with Twitter. Some tasks – such as adding users to lists – are slightly more complicated with the revamped interface.
