SALEM, N.H., Nov. 19, 2009 – Danconia Media has received this year's Salem Animal Rescue League Community Service Award for donating a new Web site that the nonprofit uses to reach out to its supporters and to find homes for abandoned dogs and cats in southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.

SARL presented Danconia the award during its annual Kimball Family Farm Autumn Brunch event held Sunday. In its recognition, SARL praised Danconia for developing an online tool that has made it easier for the animal rescue league to communicate with volunteers and supporters, raise money for its planned relocation and building project, and find homes for abandoned pets.

About 60 guests attended the event, which was held at the home of Tim and Valorie Hayes, a SARL board member, in North Andover, Mass. Before SARL's awards were handed out, attendees watched an hour-long presentation by Vickie Constantine Croke, an author, journalist and host of “The Secret Life of Animals” on NECN. Guests were also updated on SARL's Capital Giving Campaign and building project.

“The most outstanding feature of the day was our fundraising effort that resulted in $87,000 in proceeds for our Capital Giving Campaign and general fund,” said Ray Denis, SARL's director of development.

SARL launched its new site – located at www.sarl-nh.org – in October. The site features a highly user-friendly content management system that allows SARL members to add and modify content within moments, a pet management system that makes adding new animals available for adoption to its database simple, and a robust CRM application that allows the organization manage donations, volunteers and events from a single interface.

“They captured exactly what we were looking for in a very user-friendly Web site,” SARL President Lori Bertrand said shortly after the site's launching. “I am delighted with the outcome of this project, as it will be used by our volunteers, staff, donors and adopters to advance our shelter's operations and save many more lives of companion animals.”st

The site was donated as part of Danconia's Web design grant program specifically for New Hampshire nonprofits and charities. The program is intended for in-state organizations, but out-of-state applicants will be considered if they provide significant services for Granite State residents. SALEM, N.H., Sept. 30, 2009 – The Salem Animal Rescue League today launched a completely redesigned Web site that was donated by New Hampshire-based marketing and design firm Danconia Media.

Salem Animal Rescue League Web SiteThe site – located at www.sarl-nh.org – was donated as part of Danconia's Web design grant program for Granite State nonprofits and charities. It was built with a highly user-friendly content management system that will allow SARL members to add and modify content within moments. Danconia is also providing hosting services for SARL free of charge.

“They captured exactly what we were looking for in a very user-friendly Web site,” SARL President Lori Bertrand said. “I am delighted with the outcome of this project, as it will be used by our volunteers, staff, donors and adopters to advance our shelter's operations and save many more lives of companion animals.”

On the site, visitors can see pictures and videos featuring dogs and cats that are currently available for adoption, donate money to the organization by check or credit card, see upcoming events, sign up to be a volunteer, apply to be a cat or dog foster parent and get pet care information, among many other things. The site also integrates SARL's Twitter and Facebook pages, which the nonprofit uses to communicate with its supporters.

As part of the donation, Danconia Web developers installed CiviCRM, a robust open-source program that allows SARL to easily manage donations, volunteers and events from a single interface. They also integrated the PetPoint Animal Management System, which automates the process of adding animals ready for adoption to the Web site's database.

Danconia picked the rescue league as a Web design grant recipient after being contacted by SARL member Lorrie Perron. They requested an easy-to-use site that would be useful to volunteers, donors and potential pet adopters alike.

“Our new Web site will give us the ability to reach out to so many people in many ways, including enhancement of our surrender and adoption programs, education, fundraising and our Capital Giving Campaign,” said Ray Denis, SARL's director of development. “Overall, we will have the ability to promote SARL in ways that we have never been able to before without this important contemporary tool.”

SARL is the second organization to receive a Web site from the grant program. This summer, Danconia launched a site for Pembroke-based Community Services Council of New Hampshire. That site features about 15 pages of content highlighting CSCNH's many services that assist homeless, elderly and developmentally disabled residents throughout the state.

“There are a lot of great nonprofits in New Hampshire, but most of them lack the funding and the resources to effectively market themselves online,” Danconia Vice President William Sweeney said. “We started the Web design grant program so they can use their Web presences to solicit donations, gain volunteers and communicate with the public more effectively.”

Danconia is now accepting applications from other New Hampshire nonprofits and charities; the deadline is revolving. The program is intended for in-state organizations, but out-of-state applicants will be considered if they provide significant services to New Hampshire residents. For more information or to fill out an application form, visit the program's Web site at www.nhwebdesign.org.

BARNSTEAD, N.H., Oct. 27, 2009 – WoodNet Market Council, an organization dedicated to responsible forestry and green building, today launched a new Web site donated by New Hampshire design and marketing firm Danconia Media.

WoodNet Market CouncilThe site – located at www.woodnetusa.org – was built using open-source technology and a highly user-friendly content management system that allows WoodNet's members to easily add and modify content within minutes. It features a clean, minimal design and seven pages of content highlighting WoodNet's programs. The site also has a member directory, which currently lists nearly 100 organizations.

WoodNet works to unite manufacturers, builders, buyers and sellers to promote sustainable building and forestry practices. Its members work to get companies certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). WoodNet offers reduced rates for small businesses seeking FSC Chain of Custody certification and assistance in preparing for annual FSC audits and developing required controls.

Danconia Vice President William Sweeney said his company donated the site because green building and responsible forestry are important to bettering the environment. Having a quality Web presence, he said, will help WoodNet in its mission of promoting good stewardship.

“It's important to be environmentally responsible, and having good online resources is essential for any organization trying to make a difference today,” Sweeney said. “We look forward to doing more projects in the future that promote green initiatives.”

The WoodNet site is the latest in several Danconia projects involving green-building companies. Late last year, Danconia launched a completely redesigned site for Young Furniture Mfg., a Bow, N.H.-based manufacturer of FSC-certified cabinets. And earlier this year, the firm designed a site for J.S. Benson Woodworking & Design, which produces FSC windows and doors from its Brattleboro, Vt., factory.
